A freak of nature. Stuck in reality. I don't fit the picture. I'm not what you want me to be.

Fashion Soundtrack - when the worlds of fashion and music join forces - 4

who: Bill Kaulitz - frontman for the band Tokio Hotel
what: this kid is a couture freak and I'm just NOW noticing it
where: high fashion magazines, runways, stages... etc.
when: this entire time.

It all started with the DSquared2 Menswear Autumn/Winter 2010 show...

And from there, he's now being seen in Vogue magazines:
(most recent):

From a 2009 Special Edition German issue, wearing Karl Lagerfeld:

Men's German GQ, 2010:

His inspirations include vampires, (the NON Twilight kind...), and David Bowie, especially as the Goblin King in Labyrinth.

He does his own makeup, and reportedly designs his own stage costumes, the most recent of which is a futuristic, glowing, robot one which can be seen in their most recent music video for the song "Dark Side of the Sun":

Mister, where have you been all my life.
I think it's pretty safe to say Ella Anarchy has a new best friend.

Don’t trip off the glitz that I’m gonna display..

FASHION SOUNDTRACK - when the worlds of fashion and music join forces - 3

who: various music people
what: red carpet at the 2010 grammy awards
where: uhhh...
when: this past weekend?

First things first. No, I didn't watch the Grammy awards. I did, however, watch the reruns of the red carpet arrivals coverage. Alice Cooper, (childhood hero), randomly showed up. That was exciting :)

Secondly...

Those so called "Fashion Police" people never know what they're talking about. You know how it goes. They rave about the most boring and ugliest stuff and totally trash the truly stylish looks. I'm not ganna do a whole song and dance about it but I *do* think it's kind of annoying and hypocritical to call what Lady Gaga wears "a work of art" and then go and laugh and make fun of Imogen Heap's creative and unique getup a mere five seconds later. (Imogen and others, like Bjork, have been "shocking" people with their outfits for YEARS before Gaga... just because their music doesn't sound like a Britney song, they get looked down on? Bullshit).

My point is: people know nothing. But whatever.

Lastly, I'm ganna go on the record and say that I adored Adam Lambert's outfit the most. The ribbon bowtie is very 'kawaii', the jacket is gorgeous, and his shoes are awesomely amazing. Furthermore, I love the inky black hair with matching nail polish and I'm jealous of how he always has a flawless eye-makeup job.

I wish the mainstream media would stop being such assholes to him and just let him be.

I've been trying to find a rumoured Celldweller remix of one of his songs, to no avail. Anyone who can tell me where to find it, (I know it exists! I remember Klayton mentioning it way back before I even knew who Lambert was), please tell me!!!!

Take my hand... take my whole life, too.

currently listening to: Elvis Presley - "Can't Help Falling in Love" - random fact: I just found out it was actually his birthday yesterday, so Happy what-would-have-been 75th Birthday, Mr. Presley!!!

Well so much for new year's resolutions, eh? 2010 has gotten off to a bad blogging start. Oh well. Better late than never, I suppose.

Here's some newness for ya.

FASHION SOUNDTRACK - when the worlds of fashion and music join forces - 1

who: various musicians
what: "Already Famous" fashion spread shot by Steven Meisel, and featuring supermodel Sasha Pivovarova (I'm pretty sure I misspelled that).
where: Vogue magazine, January 2010

Mika:

MGMT:

Chester French:

The Horrors:

The Horrors, again:

Plenty of other fun pics and other musicians featured in the magazine. I enjoyed this spread quite a bit, but the only complaint I have is that the clothes on the guys themselves aren't actually listed anywhere, (unless I'm blind?). I only saw listings/details for Sasha's outfits.

Kinda retarded if you ask me, but whatever.

In other fashion-related news: I love the documentary Valentino: The Last Emperor. I learned that Mister Valentino has mansions all over the world: Italy, France, Sweden, and a swanky apartment in NYC.

When I'm rich and famous like him I'd like to have mansions/villas/retreats/whatever in Spain and France, maybe Australia or New Zealand (*winks at Bonoir and Katie*) and a nice place somewhere in Japan (mandatory Hello Kitty home decor everywhere you look, of course)... oh and Finland! I want to be neighbors with Ville Valo in Helsinki! (Not too much to ask, is it?)

But yes, my favourite scene is one in which Valentino grabs Karl Lagerfeld by the hand all schoolgirl-y and cutesy and exclaims "come here! I want to show you something!" and they both run off to stare at mannequins wearing Valentino's creations.

I'm telling you. It's adorable.
