FINALLY got around to watching The Prestige last night...

It stars Hugh Jackman, Scarlett Johansson, Christian Bale...
...and none other than DAVID BOWIE plays Nikola Tesla... doesn't get much better than that!!!!!!!!!

If you're into old timey magic and steampunk, I highly recommend you check it out.

I walk alone. Every step I take, I WALK ALONE.

currently listening to: Tarja Turunen

What is it about Sunday nights that makes me want to listen to nothing but somber Finnish music?

I can't remember who I heard this from a few days ago, but someone told me that when you can't fall asleep at night, you should write down everything that's in your head at that moment, as if draining all of the noise, whether negative or positive, from your mind, so that you can finally rest a little easier. I've been meaning to try it, but I find myself becoming too lazy and lethargic to reach for pen and paper when I'm lying half frozen on my bed, with all the lights off in my room, (but all the lights left on inside my head).

***

I finally got around to watching the movie White Oleander in its entirety the other day. (I'd only seen part of it, then I read the novel, which I couldn't put down). Like most 'books turned movies' out there, this one was no different in it's whole 'being watered down and switched up to the point where it gets annoying' kind of way, but it honestly wasn't truly that bad.

I wanted to commend the costume designer/stylist (whose name I forgot), on her vision for Astrid in the last part of the movie:

In case you don't know, this look is pretty much the complete OPPOSITE to what she had started out as. It's pure old-school Gothic genius, at it's best. The ONLY thing, however, that I couldn't stand was the ridiculous tribal tattoo they put on her wrist. I mean whatthefuck was that all about? (And I use the word "tattoo" loosely there. Tribal 'tattoos' shouldn't even be considered tattoos!!)

But yes, I crave this wardrobe, like I crave Nancy's (Fairuza Balk's character) from The Craft.

One of these days I will give my closet a major overhaul for Autumn. It's Goth or Die. I mean, I've been kind of 'halfway there' for ages, but it's never quite "right". Trust me, I can't STAND not wearing black. I have been a true 'goth kid' at heart ever since I can remember.

But I'll also always have my heart set on retro/vintage/pin up girl AND militaristic style. (OH, and let's not forget Japanese Lolita style!!) If I can ever figure out a way to successfully combine the four 'looks', I think I could die happy. (<--- haha, goth humour).

And of course, I *could* be saying (and wearing) an entirely different thing tomorrow.

I'm thinking of adding "Professional Fashion Chameleon" to my resume. HA.

I had a friend who changed his name but couldn’t change himself. Never quite figured out how to deal with what life had dealt.

Old people shouldn't be allowed to drive. Sounds mean, but come on now... you know you feel the same way.

Movies I saw this past week: Romeo + Juliet (said it once and I'll say it again: I'll NEVER get tired of that movie! I'm getting better at memorizing Shakesperean lines. Fun.), Paranoid Park featuring Taylor Momsen of Gossip Girl... Scene in Paranoid Park lol. Pictures, Images and Photos

... Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (Johnnyyyyyyy), first half of The Matrix (hadn't seen this one in a while, but I couldn't stay up too late and so I called it quits by 2a.m. seeing as how it was messing with my mind a little too much), and finally tonight I caught the first half of Fight Club. For some reason I've never been able to make it through that entire film. I don't know why. Tonight I think I just lost interest. But I do always enjoy seeing Brad Pitt walking around in that funny lilac bathrobe with the cutesy coffe mug appliques... oh my god I just found the actual site that sells them!!

tyler durden bathrobe Pictures, Images and Photos

Too hilarious.

Tyler DURden.

Wonder what moogies I'll watch this week. Can't wait.

If anyone cares to make any suggestions/recommendations, please do :) I'm still trying to decide whether Twilight is worth watching or not. Someone wanna convince me?

we touch the stars.

Ok, so not some of my best work. But it's what I like to do when I have long periods of downtime working the express register on a monday afternoon at work.

Besides, I didn't have my phone on me... else I'd be texting/tweeting or something. HA.

My bro gave me an iTunes gift card for my birthday and I've been using it to buy episodes of The Watchmen, (they offer cool animated little episodes of the actual comic, narrated by someone... it's so much fun!). I hope to be able to get through the entire novel once or twice before I watch the movie. It doesn't come out until March, so at least I have time. I am very excited for it indeed, and I'm not even a huge fan of comics. But this one in particular seemed to be pretty cool. I just hope I'm not disappointed with the movie, if I end up liking the comic a lot. That happened to me with The Crow. I read the graphic novel before I saw the movie, and I was so incredibly let down by the movie that it wasn't even funny. The graphic novel OWNS.

But I saw the preview for The Watchmen movie yesterday when my friend Alex and I saw Underworld3: Rise of the Lycans, (yay for guys who treat me to an awesome movie for my birthday and boo for those guys who made me cry on my bday), and it looked really freaking awesome. I especially loved how they played "Take a Bow" by Muse during the preview... that song is so incredibly fitting and awesome:

Oh and Underworld3 totally rocked my socks off. And I don't even LIKE Lycans!!

And finally, it was 30 years ago today that John Richie Simon, better known as Sid Vicious was found dead...

May he continue to rest in punk peace.

we may not all be pretty, but we feel pretty fake.

Is it just me, or does the stuff that different brands of bottled waters write on their labels make no sense? I bought a bottle of something called Acqua Panna today that reads: "With it's smooth, velvety taste, Acqua Panna is the ideal complement to the finest meals". Sounds more like something that should be written on a bottle of wine, not water. Water is JUST water, people.

My friend and I have been curiously wondering about the whole Pinkberry frozen yogurt craze in California, since Pinkberry places don't actually exist where we live. But a string of what I like to call FAKEberry's have opened up around town recently, and so we've decided to try all the different knockoff places and see which is best.

Today we went to the most obvious knockoff place and tried the "original tart" flavour. I topped mine with strawberries, red raspberries, and Fruity Pebbles! It was pretty good and yummy. Nice and light and refreshing.

Num Nummy Nummers. Tomorrow we will be trying a different place and I plan to get a different flavour. But then that means I have to choose my toppings carefully... hmmmm.

In other news, I still haven't seen Twilight. I almost feel like I'm so... Over the whole thing. Oh well. Maybe I'll just wait for it to come out on dvd. My favourite pasttime lately is popping in my favourite dvd's when I feel even an ounce of boredom. Whether it's music dvd's, (my mom and I both swoon over HIM's Love Metal Archives Volume 1, and my dad seems to be kind of into My Chemical Romance's The Black Parade is Dead! dvd, although he'll never actually admit it), or movies (currently on endless repeat are The Nightmare Before Christmas and Marie Antoinette). I'm compiling a list of movies that I love, that I haven't seen in a while, that I would love to have on dvd...

Currently looking for:

Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events, starring Jim Carey.

The Phantom of the Opera, with Emmy Rossum.

Edward Scissorhands
, because I think it's my favourite Johnny Depp character EVER.

Donnie Darko
, with Jake Gyllenhaal. I've never actually seen this movie, but a lot of people over the years have told me that it's really good and it seems to be a type of movie that I would enjoy.

Interview With The Vampire, unfortunately starring Tom Cruise as Lestat. UGH.
