Last weekend, a lovely coworker of mine surprised me with an amazing gift: a tube of MAC lipstick, in the shade called "Rebel", and I felt it was a nice sort of "initiation" item... "Welcome to the world of PROFESSIONAL makeup, grasshopper! Go crazy!" ;)
That same weekend was when I received the makeup I had ordered from the ever-so-amazing makeup brand, Sugarpill, so I had all my weapons. All I needed to do was find the time to use them. I was dying to try out anything that I could get my hands on from Sugarpill - I first found out about them in November of last year, and they seemed to be one of the top favorite brands amongst seasoned makeup junkies. Their logos and packaging are insanely adorable, their prices are great, and they have the "Bubble Goth" (i.e. Kerli) stamp of approval, so how could I lose??! I decided to buy the "Sweetheart" Eye Shadow Pallet that comes with four shades: "Afterparty" (bright blue), "Dollipop" (bright fuschia), "Tako" (snowy white), and "Midori" (emerald green). I figured that would give me plenty of options to start out with...
Here's me with my first trial run, playing with Afterparty and Dollipop. I'm also wearing my new MAC lipstick, for good measure. I used the blue shade (Afterparty) on the whole lid, past the crease, and tried sweeping it past the inner corner of my eyes for a different effect. I kept the pink (Dollipop) on the lid and winged it outwards. Tako went on the browbone for highlighting. (Apologies for the not-so-great quality of the photos.. And, yes, my hair is "in between" colors right now, don't judge me, please!)
"Ruby Soho" handmade hairclip by me!! |
Second try: Afterparty on the whole lid again, (it's my favorite shade so far!) with Midori blended on the outer eye, Tako on the browbone for highlighting effect, again, but you really can't tell because I'm so pale ;P
Ok, so these looks are nothing amazing, but they're not that bad for my first attempts, eh? I'm telling you, these eyeshadows are INSANE. I don't even have to load the brush up with very much product to get the super bright effect! As I said to Amy (better known as Shrinkle: the MASTERMIND behind this brand), on Twitter: "this stuff is BANANAS". And I never use the word 'Bananas'! So that's saying a lot! ;)
Speaking of the ever so awesome Shrinkle/Amy, I really loved how she took the time to hand-write a nice "thank you" message on my order form. She also included a cool Sugarpill sticker and a free sample of her loose eyeshadow "Goldilux"!!!!!
Needless to say, I'm officially a fan for life. If you haven't already, I suggest you give Sugarpill a shot. You won't regret it. Next on my wishlist are "Bulletproof" (black) and "Poison Plum" (bright purple)... I will be ordering them soon!!!
Also, Note to self: stop being lazy and buy a new eyelash curler so you can wear mascara, already!!!!
*Sigh* I have a lot of catching up to do. Bear with me, people.
More looks soon.
Hope everyone has an amazing weekend :D
