I came across a fun game that I will be playing for the next 30 days. It's called the "IAMX 30 DAY CHALLENGE". Happy first day of SEPTEMBER :)
I know I've mentioned how much adoration I have for Chris Corner, the artististic genius behind IAMX, on this blog before. So imagine my joy when I discovered this version of the "30 day challenge" that has circulated throughout Facebook in some form or another. It was originally meant to be a 40 day challenge, but I'm eliminating 10 of the less creative ones, and putting a twist on some of the remaining ones. I've been looking forward to this all week! With all that said, however, I must admit that there's a strange sense of fear that I feel, in taking a part in exposing IAMX's music to the world. After many years, they are still one of the most unknown, underrated, untainted acts that exist. They have played a huge part in inspiring my creativity in more ways than one. They feed and nurture the very essence of my soul...and I'm afraid of sharing that kind of power with someone who (quite possibly), could care less. So if you, dear reader, are one of those... kindly turn your attention elsewhere. IAMX is simply one of those bands that people either "get", or don't. They are my special treasure. And I don't like sharing it with just anyone.
IAMX 30 DAY CHALLENGE - DAY ONE: FAVORITE IAMX SONG.
How does one choose a 'favorite' song? After arduously narrowing down my multiple choices, there remained ONE that I kept coming back to. The one I'll always choose. The very first IAMX song I ever heard.
"Missile"... I always find myself naturally drawn to sad songs. One of the best commentaries I've ever read that put this in perspective is, "there's beauty in sadness because it is pure, whereas happiness often feels fake..."
A comment from a fan on youtube sums it up easily:
