It's almost June... that was fast!

I. Am. Craving. SHOES.  I really don't know why it hit me all of a sudden. I guess I just haven't gone shoe shopping in a long while! The newest Material Girl collection from Macy's has some really cute ones this time around. I want, want, want!!!

In other news...

Summer Goals Update
I posted a short list of "summer goals" in my last blog entry and thought of a couple more things I can add:  1) Cleaning/reorganizing/redecorating my bedroom (and *keeping* it neat!) will be an ongoing challenge this season. But it shouldn't be so bad now that I have a break from fashion school, because that means less clutter of piles of fabric and supplies and 'works in progress' so... **fingers crossed**, 2) During my last 'clean up', I found a new home for my Living Dead Doll and realized, suddenly, that I haven't made a new outfit for her since last year!!! Therefore, along with all the experimenting with jewelry-making, I'm adding "make more outfits for Tragedy", (that's her name), and today I had a renewed desire to make hairclips/bows like I used to, and I actually made a couple of really cute things. So that's on the list now as well :)  As for the other items, I've gotten a good start on reading. I checked out a bunch of stuff from the library last week.. mainly old works, but hey, Anne Rice = good reads any decade ;)

My Tragedy in one of the outfits I've made for her :)

Life Update
One of my bestest friends from fashion school moved to another state last weekend, (I'm bummed!), so she had an amazing Alice in Wonderland-style Going Away Tea Party and we both dressed up as cute Lolitas, ate lots of sugary treats, played croquet and took lots of fun photos.

Here's one of my faves...

She made her ENTIRE outfit herself, green wig included!!  The only thing I made for my outfit is the mini top hat, but it's hard to see in this photo.  She's a super creative doll and you should check out her blog here: http://mycraftylifeasiseeit.blogspot.com

Oh and finally, here's something completely random.
Adam Glambert hosted one of his always fun "Twitter Parties" last week, (where you submit questions to him and hope and wait like crazy to see if he answers yours).  I got my question answered!  Exciting!!!
I asked "do you ever struggle with not believing in yourself?" and here's what he said:

It seemed to generate a simultaneous "AWWWW" from most of the Glamverse, haha.  Awesome.  And I'm actually really happy with his answer... It's something I really needed to hear, if that makes sense.

Until next time,

Turn and face the Strange.

I haven't completely gotten out of this funk that I've been in since 2010, but some days, (like today), it feels like I'm so close that I can taste it. In the midst of all this revamping of my current website, (www.anarchicdesigns.com), I came to the realization that I've outgrown that name. Anarchic Designs. I only began calling my company that to suit my alter ego Ella Anarchy. Or, rather, what was *supposed* to be my alter ego. But why did I need an alternate 'me' to begin with? Is it because I've never been truly satisfied with who I am? Maybe that's where most of my problems started. I think I set myself up for expectations that were maybe a little too far out of reach. But "Ella Anarchy"?? Come on. That's not really who I am anymore. Maybe it never was...

I've made the decision to start doing away with "Ella Anarchy" and "Anarchic Designs". I have to go back to square one, and back to concentrating on finding the real me, not somebody hiding and getting lost behind a fake persona. It's not something that's going to happen overnight, but I'm just putting it out there so that there aren't any huge surprises when I complete my transformation, so to speak. I feel like a caterpillar in it's chrysalis and I'm still not ready to emerge as this new me that I'm working on. But when my wings are complete, I hope that they will never fall off again.

As usual, I've fallen in love with Jeremy Scott's latest offering from NY Fashion Week:

I think he's definitely the designer I aspire to be like the most. But to be clear: I don't want to be "the next Jeremy Scott". I want to be the first ME.

I have a photoshoot set up with some awesome people tomorrow, to show off the newest creations that didn't get to walk the runway this time around.

I'm taking it one step at a time...
:)

with the best of intentions, you tried to give an ocean direction.

Had such a good day today.  After having lunch with my "twin" brother, we walked over to the bookstore and sat on the floor in the middle of the fantasy/mythology aisle discussing Tolkien, Elves, Faeries, and the Black Forest of Germany ;)

There are *countless* books out there that I wish I could lose myself inside of... I used to be such an avid reader, but I let that fall by the wayside some time ago. As soon as I can say I'm completely done with my current projects, I want to get into reading again.

In other news.. how awesome are these masks?!?!?!?!?!

Wouldn't it be awesome if we all walked around wearing things like these the whole time??  A different one every day, maybe?

Love.

I want to know how to survive in the nightlife.

HOLY WOWNESS. Just... wow.

I don't do a very good job of updating these days, but I do miss my random little bloggie world.  Here's a quick life update of the past month:  After experiencing a horrible bout of health issues mid month, I was looking forward to some de-stressing/relaxation for my birthday at the end of January. Alas, I got to "celebrate" it by working at my day job all day long! It actually wasn't all that bad, though, considering I actually enjoy the company of my coworkers and loved having them tell me how much they loved the cupcakes that I had brought in.  I worked till late at night and didn't get to TRULY celebrate outside of work, though.  But oh well. To be completely honest, birthdays stopped having any meaning for me after I passed 18.  How sad is that?

Fast forward to present day Valentine's 2011.  After engorging on chocolate covered strawberries, I'm currently craving new musical, auditory candy to spoil my ears rotten with, and am on a mission to find some good stuff to kick me onto Inspiration Road once again... (huh??). I've found last.fm to be a great source of stumbling upon new, unheard sounds and voices.  At this very moment, I'm trying to find cool Latin/Spanish speaking artists to listen to. Being that I *am* a native Spanish speaker/Mexican American chick, I find it kind of uncool that I'm not more familiar with the music that Spanish-speaking countries have to offer. Well, I'm familiar with *some* stuff, but it's mainly the mainstream, uber genre-specific stuff that they talk about on the celebrity gossip shows that my mother watches, and I'm not into it... like... at all.  The 'popular' stuff out there seems to consist solely of spanish rap/reggaeton/club music or accordion stuff played by doods in matching rhinestone jackets and cowboy hats... the complete OPPOSITE of what I'm searching for! Where are all the ROCKERS of the Latin world?? Are there no Latino versions of Kill Hannah or HIM, or My Chemical Romance?? I WANT SOME SPANISH ROCK MUSIC!!  A really good band that I happen to be into is Hotel Persona, based out of Spain. But the only reason I really even know about them is because it happens to be Stefan Olsdal's, (of one of my favourite English bands, Placebo), side project ;)
So for anyone out there actually reading this right now, who happens to know of some stuff I might be into, please leave a comment below. (Si hablo el espaƱol, asi es que si alguien tiene sugerencias, porfavor diganme!)

Aside from that, I've been busy losing my mind over trying to construct new clothing items to show off.  I think most people truly don't realize just how time-consuming/difficult sewing items from scratch really is.  It eats up half of my life.  I can't wait till I'm rich enough to afford sewing room assistants to take some of the load off my back. Or just assistants in general, like the ones you see on tv shows, who write out your entire day in list form and read it out to you in the morning when they hand you your custom coffee. And remind you of important, upcoming events, answer your phone, and run out to the office supply store to buy more ink for your printer when you need it. You know... the little things ;)
I've also been working on a super updated/more sophisticated version of my current anarchicdesigns.com, but it's had to be put on the back burner because I'm just. So. Tired.
All the time.

And since my health scare last month, I'm trying to listen to my body more often, and giving it more TLC.  After all, I'm not very useful to people and things when I have no strength.

And that was a lot longer than I expected it to be.  But I enjoyed typing all that... I think I'll try to do more journal-style updates more often.

Bejeweled skull = hand customized bday present from a good friend, leather jacket = Bebe, (found at a second hand store for under $50. Eat your heart out, Billy Kaulitz ;P)
