it seems the stranger is always you.

I'm waiting for 2010 to be over.  It's been hard for me to find meaning in anything that I do anymore.  Especially 'blogging'.  But I did decide to give this old thing a long overdue makeover and... I suppose it sort of helps to inspire me, in a way.  But it's going to take a lot more than visuals to help with everything else.  I just need someone, or something, to 'get me out of my head'.  I just quoted my current favourite song.  In case you're wondering, yes, it's by My Chemical Romance. And, yes, I've still been listening to that album every single day. No, I'm not sick of it. And yes, if it were up to me, I'd blog and blab about them all day, every day. But apparently other people exist in this world and for some unknown reason I actually worry about 'boring' them.  Huh. I mean, really, now. Where does that come from? As if it wasn't already enough worrying about innocent people being jailed for speaking out against wrongdoings committed by powerful idiots and about ALL the other shit that happens on this planet, I actually worry about BORING COMPLETE STRANGERS.

Go figure.

But since that happens to be the case, here's a non-MCR-related post. (In case anyone gives even half a damn).

So I open up my inbox today to find the latest newsletter offerings from the world of Nylon magazine, and it turns out that the male-targeted version of that publication has decided to put Michael Pitt on it's cover. He's always been a bit of a 'lesser known' actor, (or at least he has been for the oblivious masses), but most of the TRULY 'cool' people know who he is and it seems he has quite the diehard fan following.  I, for one, first became intrigued by him the first time I watched the movie Hedwig and the Angry Inch, and absolutely adored his character, Tommy Gnosis

(Great movie, by the way. With quite possibly one of the best soundtracks that ever existed).

I don't know what it is, but something about this guy just makes me wonder if he's a different species.

Not only can he act, he can also sing.
No, not even 'sing'... More like croon
He's naturally edgy, unique, original... all the stuff that muses are made of.

And as the photo teasers that the Nylon site offered up today prove: all he has to do is sit there, and you can just feel the effortless coolness emanating from his pores. Speaking strictly from a (wannabe) photographer's point of view, he seems like he'd be really inspiring to work with.

There needs to be more people like this in the world.

So yeah.
I look forward to getting my hands on this issue and reading the interview. Oh, and if I ever get my hands on one of his albums, (yes apparently he's recorded one and is about to release a new one), I'll be sure to let everyone know how it is.

For anyone who reads this, feel free to share who you think is uniquely interesting and worthy of a magazine cover, NylonGUYS or otherwise. I'm curious to know :)

We weren't put here just to wait, you know...

It's only been two days since my last post but it feels like two weeks. I need to stop neglecting this blog so much. Haven't had time to dye my hair yet, but I'm still thinking about it. I should squeeze that in sometime this week during shopping and sewing, and redecorating my room. If I can.

ANYways...

I haven't been able to stop staring at the latest issue of Nylon. I really kind of have a love/hate relationship with that magazine. Sometimes it bores me to death or fails to get my attention in a positive way... other times I love it to pieces.

These are my favourite pages from this current issue: And, once again, I apoligize for the crappy quality of the photos taken with my digital camera. I don't own a scanner. Blah.

*Super cute spread featuring Taylor Momsen. How adorable is she? I still can't believe she's only 15... did anyone here look like this at 15? 'Cause I sure didn't.

*LOVING the clown/mime/harlequin styling. I wish I could do this hairstyle on my hair.

*I couldn't stop staring at this page. I love love LOVE this outfit. I'm not even sure why:

*And finally... I'm a sucker for short skirts/dresses. The shorter the better ;) haha, but seriously, this vintage dress is super cute. Maybe I can try to make one like it. Different colours, of course. And shoes. I need new shoes. I never thought I'd become one of those girls that becomes obsessed with cute shoes/heels but somewhere along the line I did. Shoes complete the outfit, after all.

Oh, and who remembers Samara... the uber creepy, yet somehow cute little girl that crawls out of the television screen in The Ring and killed everyone?? She's eighteen years old now!! That's her in the last photo!! How cool is that?!

"You have seven days."

HA!

I want to I want to be someone else or I'll explode Floating upon this surface for the birds The birds The birds

For this Lazy Sunday edition, I'm posting pics of 10 things I loved about this past week, in no particular order: (and okay, I kinda cheated. The last two items are videos and not pictures, haha).

10 - Latest issue of the Gothic&Lolita Bible - Wedding Edition
9 - Newest issue of Nylon with Kat Dennings and Olivia Thirlby on the cover... so colourful!
8 - My new phone :) You can't see very well but I have a cute picture of cupcakes as my background.
7 - FINALLY found a copy of Romeo + Juliet on dvd. This one is the "music edition", which features a cool virtual music box with each song that plays during the movie. It also came with a cute postcard. But the one thing that bothers me is the doctored picture on the cover. Romeo was wearing a knight costume during the time he spent kissing Juliet in the angel costume at that masquerade party... the horrible hawaiian print shirt didn't come into play till later... someone has mad photoshop skills.
6 - finally finishing up one of the hardest parts of my 5 part project for my Textiles class. I got a good grade... more info coming soon.
5 - Cute raccoon hoodie that I ordered off ebay finally arrived all the way from Hong Kong.
4 - I stumbled across the cutest website ever and I want to spend money on it very badly.
3 - Listened to this last night.

2 - Loving this cover of Muse's "Time is Running Out" done by Amanda Palmer at Coachella. I love her outfit too.

1 - And finally... I'm loving this video/song featuring Gerard Way for an upcoming Final Fantasy 7 soundtrack:
